In honor of National Bubble Bath Day, let’s talk self-care...
Self-care is very important. It can benefit or affect our mental, emotional, and physical health. A recent study showed that immersion bathing (bubble baths!) exerts hyperthermic action that induces increased blood flow and metabolic waste elimination, which may afford physical refreshment. Immersion bathing should improve both physical and emotional aspects of quality of life. While self-care isn’t just taking a bubble bath, it’s definitely a start!
It helps give your mind a break
A relaxing bubble bath can help you take some time to slow down, declutter your mind, and reduce your stress levels. It can be easy to ignore your mental needs when it feels like you have a long list of responsibilities to attend to and not enough time in the day, however carving out some time to address your mental needs can help you stay sharp and focused on other tasks.
Time to check in with yourself emotionally
A relaxing bubble bath can also give you a chance to connect with your feelings and develop healthy coping skills to deal with uncomfortable emotions like sadness, anger, and anxiety. Don’t forget to engage in some positive self-talk, practicing self-compassion.
Prioritize yourself
If you need an extra push to make sure you prioritize breaks just as much as your responsibilities, block out a section of your calendar each day for a little rest and relaxation or consider setting an alarm on your phone to remind you to take care of YOU.
