I started in the transportation industry right after high school, ecstatic to get a job as a part-time receptionist. And within a few years, I’d been promoted to vice president of operations, the company’s youngest VP ever.
When I went out on my own and started Pearl Trans, I chose that name because I am a pearl. To become a valuable gem, friction is required. Since childhood, I’ve been told “No”—and as a result learned to be tenacious when it comes to reaching my goals. A pearl is nothing if not tenacious.
My team and I have been successful in a male-dominated industry customizing same-day transportation solutions for customers from solopreneurs to Fortune 500 companies.
In my Latino culture, family is everything. So I’m extra-passionate about our new division, CryoCourier, which specializes in the IVF sector. We transport precious specimens from sperm samples to frozen eggs to frozen embryos—and are committed to using our expertise, care, and integrity to help families grow and enter their next chapter.
I work very hard and love what I do—and I’ve also dedicate my time to travel and volunteer, teaching reading and writing in a mountainous Guatemalan village. My goal is to empower young women in the region and stop the cycle of domestic abuse. The women I’ve met are remarkable—helping me slow down and appreciate the smaller things—and have made me more committed than ever to be successful and give back to the world.
Lorena was recently elected to serve on the board of directors of the Customized Logistics & Delivery Association (CLDA), who advances the interests of the final mile sector of the supply chain through advocacy, networking and education. She credits the association for bringing some of her most influential mentors into her life and forging business relationships that have helped grow her business.
She is also a former board member of the Los Angeles chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO-LA). Lorena is a graduate of the Executive Management Program at UCLA Anderson School of Management.
